Sincerely Pam Crochet Designer Review
Y
ou can find Pam’s patterns on Ravelry and Craftsy. Check out the latest from Sincerely Pam on her blog and Facebook!

Pam, from Sincerely Pam, is truly an amazing designer! But not only is she a great designer, she’s a wonderful friend and the perfect person to begin my designer reviews!

Most of you probably know her work. Most of you probably own several of her patterns. Her work is amazing and out of 46 patterns, I’ve worked 17 of them… a few of them more than once! You can find the projects I have uploaded to Ravelry using Sincerely Pam’s patterns here. One of my favorite patterns, one that I find myself making over and over, is the Johnny Beanie. There are so many color variations to do with this one! Everyone could have the perfect hat just by this one pattern. And its a great hat for appliques! And now, let’s learn a little more about Pam!

Q) How long have you been crocheting? What got you started?

I have been crocheting for just under 3 years. It started when my son was 6 months old. We had just moved across the country and I had no friends or family. I was so bored! My husband (lovingly) told me I needed a hobby. I was knitting a bit and decided to try my hand learning to crochet!

Q) Where do you see your business going? Where would you like to be in 5 years?

My business is in a really unique place for me. I feel like I have a lot of big choices to make. I’m really trying to think about who I am as a designer, where I want to be and how to get there. I have been so fortunate with the way my business has developed since I started designing and I don’t want to screw it up haha! I know that I will be blogging. I just started that this month and love it! And I know that I want to keep pushing myself to try new things.

Q) Do you have any upcoming patterns you’d like to share with us?

Well, I do, but I can’t just yet! I have my Design Wars pattern using Heads Up coming out in November, and I have also partnered with a Children’s Book author to create patterns inspired by her characters! That’s all I can say so far!

Q) What is your favorite design and why?

Hmmm… I’m not sure. I really do love everything I put out for different reasons. If you don’t love it, why bother?

Q) What is your favorite item to make as a gift?

Hats. They are quick, easy, and in Northern Ontario they are also a neccessity when we live with snow for half the year.

Q) What is your favorite hook and why?

K hook. I like that it’s big enough so my projects work up fast, but small enough that I can use it with all my favourite yarns!

Q) What has been your biggest design risk? Was it worth it?

My biggest design risks were the Butterfly Breeze Poncho because I had no reference for sizing! I had to make it up as I went. The first one was HUGE!!!! But it was easy to scale back after that. The second one was the Marek Vest. I had never made a design that complex before. The stiches are all ones that we know and use often, but how it’s put together was a challenge for me having made only 1 garment before that one. And yes, it was totally worth it for me!

Q) What is your least favorite thing to make?

Anything requiring a pair.

Q) What celebrity would you like to see wearing your designs and why?

I could totally see Johnny Depp rocking a Johnny Slouch!

And it keeps getting better! Pam has offered a coupon code exclusively for people reading this interview! Good through November 7th, get 30% off all Pam’s patterns using code CRYSTALIZED on Ravlery! There’s definitely a pattern in her store that you’ll fall in love with! Here are a few of my projects using her patterns!

Which of Pam’s patterns are your favorite? Keep an eye open next month for another Designer Review! Who would you like to see?

  1. Oh I am for sure with you on the Johnny patterns! I just love them all lol! Not that Pam’s other patterns aren’t wonderful, because they most certainly are. She is a great designer and her patterns are really well written. Pam is sure to put in lots of pictures if there are complicated stitches or instructions which is awesome!
