Most likely an early morning with our children’s excited voices! Well, I’ve decided that us parents need something fun as well! After all, we do a lot of work for those little people! So here’s a festive holiday Santa’s Sleigh Ornament Crochet Pattern to brighten up your tree!!

Materials:
- Yarn: Sport Weight Yarn like Stylecraft Special DK
- Hook: Size D, 3.25mm
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Pipe Cleaners 12″ in Silver
- Glue Gun and Hot Glue Gun Sticks
- Poly-Fil or Fiberfill
- Thread or Ornament Hook

Special Pattern Notes:
Beginning chain 1 does not count as a stitch. Always work the first stitch into joining stitch unless noted. Join to first stitch of each round unless noted.
By adjusting yarn and hook, you can change the side of the sleigh. Want it smaller? Try crochet thread!
Santa’s Sleigh Ornament Crochet Pattern
Bottom of Sleigh
(You will need to make 2)
With Red, Ch 9
R1: Starting in 2nd ch, sc across (8 sts)
R2-12: Ch 1, turn, sc across (8)
Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in same, sc next 6, 3 sc in next, turn so you are working down the long side of the piece, work 10 sc evenly down side, 3 sc in corner, turn so working down short side, sc next 6, 3 sc in corner, turn so you are working down other long side of the piece, work 10 sc evenly down side, join (44 sts)
Finish off and weave in ends. Make a second piece.
Put wrong sides together of both pieces. Join yarn to corner like left picture below (the middle sc of the 3 sc) working through both pieces. Ch 1, slst around working through both pieces (shown in right picture below). Join. Continue to Lower Section of Sleigh on next page. (44 slsts)
Lower Section of Sleigh
You will now be working in the slsts just made through both pieces.
R1: Ch 1, turn (you’ll want the right side of the sts facing out), sc in each slst around, join (44 sts)
R2: Ch 1, hdc next 8, sc next, slst next, sc next, hdc next 13, sc next, slst next, sc next, hdc remaining sts, join
Finish off. Work over end when working back of sleigh.
Front of Sleigh
Rejoin yarn in 10th st to the left from where you finished off (should be the sc). Work over tail when working Row 1.
R1: Ch 1, sk 1, hdc next 13, slst next (15 sts)
R2: Ch 1, turn, sk 1, hdc next 12, slst next (14 sts)
R3: Ch 1, turn, sk 1, hdc next 11, slst next (12 sts)
Finish off. Leave tail and work over when doing edging.
Back of Sleigh
Rejoin yarn in 3rd unworked st to the left (should be the first hdc). Work over beginning tail and tail from lower section.
R1: Ch 1, sk 1, hdc next 23, slst next (24 sts)
R2, Ch 1, turn, sk 1, hdc next 21, slst next (22 sts)
R3: Ch 1, turn, working all 3 loops, sk 1, hdc next 21, slst in same
Edging
Ch 1, sc evenly around entire sleigh. Finish off and weave in end.

Sleigh Seats
Magic Circle
R1: Ch 1, 8 hdc in circle, join (8)
R2: Ch 1, hdc 2, 2 hdc next, 3 hdc next 2, 2 hdc next, hdc next (13 sts)
R3: Ch 1, turn, hdc 3, 3 hdc in next, sc next, 2 sc next, sc next 5, 2 hdc next, hdc next (17 sts)
R4: Ch 1, turn, in BLO hdc next 17, working along flat side of piece hdc 9 (do not work in sides of first and 17th hdc, see picture below), join (26 sts)
R5-7: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, join
R8: Slst in next, ch 1, working in BLO hdc 1, hdc2tog, sc2tog, sc next 5, sc2tog, sc next, hdc3tog, hdc 3 (14 sts)
R9: Ch 1, turn, hdc next 2, hdc3tog, hdc2tog, sc next 3, sc3tog (8 sts)
Finish off and stuff tail and a small amount of Fiberfill in it. You’ll want to avoid firmly filling the piece as you will make and indent for the ‘seat’.
Rails
Take 2 pipe cleaners and fold them in half (left picture below). Twist the halves together (middle picture below). Curve the front as desired for your sleigh (right picture below).
Hot glue the seat into the sleigh. Once dry, hot glue each rail to the bottom of the sleigh. Optional: Hot glue the top of rails to front of sleigh. Secure crochet thread to each side of sleigh in lenth desired to hang from tree!

I'm having trouble with rows 1 and 2 of body of sleigh and joining the two sides!
I'm not sure of the joining with the slip stitch. How do you do it? Mine looks like I'm only on one side leaving the other looking unworked. Please help!
