I’m excited to be a part of the Worldwide Artist Blog Hop! I was nominated by Stephanie from Smalltown Dreamz to participate in the blog hop and a bit later, I’ll be nomination two others to join in the fun! You can find more about what Stephanie does here.
Each crafty blogger has to answer 4 simple questions about themselves and then nominate 2 others. So here’s the answers to my questions…
Why do I do what I do?
Simple- I love crochet! It’s just one of those things that I feel in love with. It calms me, it relaxes me, it gets my creative juices flowing (and flowing, and flowing!) It has become an every day need for me. Whether I’m designing or making something from another’s pattern, it’s a part of my life.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
There are so many amazing crochet designers out there. I like to think of myself as one that creates patterns using unique, sometime complex stitches. Though I’ve created several accessories, I’m trying to branch out into garments and really focus on my personal style and tastes. Though I know not everyone will love the things I make, I sure do!
How does my creative process work?
Timing is everything. It has to feel right. If I just don’t have the push to design something, it feels forced and normally doesn’t turn into anything publishable. When I’m ready to start something completely new, I normally start with stitch books and my yarn wall. Picking colors and stitches is almost always the first place I start when there isn’t an idea already in place. Then it evolves from there. I’ve learned from previous Design Wars competitions, my first ideas almost never work out… or at least not the way I envisioned.
What am I working on now?
HA! I could probably write a book on all the things I’m working on now! I have an entire tote of WIPs (work in progresses) for other’s patterns. I have a Design Wars design I’m just finishing up on (reveals are coming on Friday!! So excited!!) I have 3 other smaller holiday patterns I’m working on. I have 3 garment designs that are unfinished. I have 3 accessory type patterns I’m writing and my first toy that I will be starting soon… whew!!! And that’s just what I can think of off the top of my head, all of which are crochet related and not including any of the family, household, and blog projects I have going on!
Here’s a peek at my Design Wars project!
Now for me to nominate!!!
I’d like to nominate Tanya from HodgePodge Crochet and Maria from Pattern Paradise! Keep a eye on their blogs, they’ll be answering these questions within two weeks and announcing who they nominate for the blog hop!
