How to Join with a Single Crochet

When we first start crocheting, joining a new yarn might have been an exciting accomplishment. Once we learned, it was easy sailing. But did you know there's another way to join yarn? A cleaner way? To join with a single crochet, also called a standing single crochet, is as easy as working a single crochet! Let's find out how.

Join with a Single Crochet vs Slip Stitch

What makes joining with a single crochet different?

The standing single crochet is a way to start a row/round without chaining to bring row/round up to the correct height.

This give you a more elegant join and a better aligned edge. A less bulky edge.

As you can see above, there is a different appearance to each. The blue on the left is chaining and working a single crochet, the green on the right is the standing single crochet.

Which do you like better? If it's the standing single crochet, keep reading to learn how.
