Sky and Sunshine Bag ~ A Free Crochet Pattern

Do you have balls of leftover yarn from used skeins rolling around? Are they overtaking bins around your home? Are you shoving them into a drawer for a rainy day? It’s always a struggle to find a use for them. They’re too little for those larger projects, but still enough to feel guilty throwing them away (at least for me). It’s time to find a use for those little babies! Though there are many stash-busting projects out there, this free stash busting bag crochet pattern is the perfect little bag for so many things… including a place to store more of those scrap yarn balls! Hopefully though, this pattern will give you a project to use up some of those. Or just use full skeins. Either way, this is a quick and fun project that is great for gifting!

Free Stash Busting Bag Crochet Pattern

Materials:

• Yarn: I Love This Cotton or similar yarn like Lion Brand Yarn 24-7 Cotton Yarnapproximately 280 yards used for entire bag
• Hook: Size G, 4.0mm and Size I, 5.5mm 
• Scissors
• Yarn Needle
• Measuring Tape

Sizing:

Gauge:

I hook 14 hhdc by 11 rows = 4″

Pattern Key:

• Ch(s): Chain(s)
• Hhdc: Herringbone half double crochet (see specialty stitches)
• YO: Yarn over
• St(s): Stitch(es)

R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 2 hhdc, hhdc next 23 chs, 5 hhdc in last turn, turn chain to work down opposite side, hhdc next 23 chs, 3 hhdc in last ch (should already have 2 hhdc in it), join – 56 sts

R2: Ch 1, 2 hhdc in same and next, hhdc next 23, 2 hhdc next 2, hhdc next, 2 hhdc next 2, hhdc next 23, 2 hhdc next 2, hhdc next, join – 64 sts

R3: Ch 1, hhdc in same, 2 hhdc next 3, hhdc next 23, 2 hhdc next 3, hhdc next 3, 2 hhdc next 3, hhdc next 23, 2 hhdc next 3, hhdc next 2, join – 76 sts
