About Lion Brand’s Vel-Luxe
Lion Brand has some pretty amazing yarns, but velvet? Wow! This cake of yarn has 246 yards, 225 meters of 100% polyester chenille goodness. For a velvet yarn, it’s reasonably priced at $6.99 on the Lion Brand website. For an amazing yarn though, I would like to see more color choices. Lion Brand limited this yarn to 6 colors, and as my go-to color being blue, I would love to see this option available.
Would I buy Vel-Luxe again?
Yes, I would. Though it has limited color choices, this yarn would be perfect for a wide variety of projects. I created Crispen the Snowman (free crochet pattern) using this yarn for his hat, scarf, and mittens, but this would be an amazing yarn for a sweater, hat, cowl…. really, there would be so many great project options!
One thing I did notice when working with this yarn is that it had an odor to it when I was working it it. After a few days of my snowman sitting out though, the smell was gone. But that definitely won’t stop me from working with this yarn again. If you’ve been wanting to try it, I definitely recommend it!
