This water bottle cozy frenzy started with the Back to School CAL and the Crayon Water Bottle Cozy I designed for it. Though I LOVE the crayon, I knew I wanted to make a pencil and marker. You can check those out at the links below. Though a marker could be made similar to the crayon, I wanted to have a cap that’s attached to the cozy but yet allows it to lay open or closed. Hope you enjoy the marker water bottle cozy crochet pattern!

Special Pattern Notes:
Beginning chain does not count as a stitch unless noted.
This pattern is mainly worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to help count rows by marking first stitch of each round. When joining with a color change, pull as tight as possible to align colors.
It’s easier to work when bottom and top two stripes of colored yarn is precut. 4.5 yards will be needed for the top two stripes, 4.5 yards will be needed for the bottom two stripes, and 6.5 yards will be needed for the Tip of the Marker. Remaining yardage will be needed for the Marker Cap and Scribble Strap.

R2: 2 hdc in each st around – 20 sts
R3: *Hdc 1, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 30 sts
Finishing: Hdc in next, sc in next slst in next. (Leave a long end before finishing off if sewing inside cap.) Finish off. Weave in ends excluding long tail if sewing.
Fill first cap piece firmly with Poly-Fil up to Round 7. (Cap should fit on easily with water bottle in cozy.) Using the second “insert” piece of cap, sew or hot glue inside first piece at Round 8 to keep Poly-Fil in place.
Sew hook and eye in from of cozy if desired. This will allow the cap to remained closed when not being used.
Sew or slst strap onto 4 unworked stitches. (Picture shows Crayon version of cozy.)
Button strap inside to keep bottle vertical. (Picture shows Crayon version of cozy.)
Two photos above show filling the Marker Cap with Poly-fil and then taking the insert piece and sewing/gluing it into place to keep the shape of the Marker Cap.
Sew Marker Cap two stitches to the right of the strap and two stitches to the left of the strap. Skip 4 stitches on the Marker Cap leaving an opening. This will allow the strap to be able to be pulled through to either side of the cap.
