Do you like gardening as much as I do? I love seeing yarn turn into a creation, and I feel the same way about gardening. Something about having a small seed or plant grow and provide us food really gives me enjoyment. Not only that, but fresh vegetables beat store bought any day! With my love for gardening, I decided to create a garden bowl that was easy enough to fold up and store, large enough to hold a good picking, and easy enough to use even for my children. That got me to thinking on how it could easily be moved without my boys dumping it. So it became a convertible bowl! - Yarn: 3 Skeins King Cole Raffia, or 370 yards of similar yarn like Premier Yarns Raffia
- Hook: Size J, 6.0mm
- Stitch Markers

Vegetable Basket and Bag in One! When you’re in the garden, the last thing you want to worry about is what you’re putting your produce in. This convertible basket is the perfect bowl that turns into a bag when you’re done picking. The open mesh top keeps veggies fresh when the bag is closed!

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Mark first or last stitch of each round to keep place.
Garden Vegetable Bowl/Bag Crochet Pattern
Base of Basket
Magic Circle
R1: Ch 1, 10 hdc in magic circle – 10 sts
R2: 2 hdc in each st around – 20 sts
R3: *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 30 sts
R4: *hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 40 sts
R5: *hdc in next 3, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 50 sts
R6: *hdc in next 4, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 60 sts
R7: *hdc in next 5, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 70 sts
R8: *hdc in next 6, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 80 sts
R9: *hdc in next 7, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 90 sts
R10: *hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around – 100 sts
Do not finish off. You’ll now be working the body of the basket.
Body of Basket
R11: Hdc in each st around – 100 sts
R12-28: Hdc in each st around – 100 sts
You will now work in joining rounds. Slst in next st.
Round 29: Ch 1, sc in same, ch 5, skip 4, *sc in next, ch 5, skip 4, repeat * around, join – 20 sc
R30-33: Slst in next 3 chs, ch 1, sc in ch 5 space, ch 5, skip sc, *sc in next ch 5 space, ch 5, skip sc, repeat * around, join – 20 sc
Increase length if desired (will require more yardage). Finish off and weave in ends.
Tie
Ch 101
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across – 100 sc
Do not finish off. Remove hook from loop. Cut end of yarn leaving a 7″ tail. Weave tie in and out through round 36 ch 5 loops. Put loop back on hook. Slst both ends of tie together to secure. Finish off and weave in ends.
