in Bear (3.5oz), 2 Skeins Lion Brand Yarn Go for Faux Yarn in Chinchilla (3.5oz), 1 Skein Bernat Crushed Velvet Yarn
, small amount of orange worsted yarn
- Hook: Size F, 3.75mm
(if crocheting eyes), Size H, 5.0mm, and Size K/6.5mm
- Poly-Fil
or Fiberfill
- 2 Large Safety Eyes, 20-24mm recommended or small amount of black and white yarn for crocheted version

R3: Ch 1, hdc in same, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 24 sts
R4: Ch 1, hdc in same and next, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 32 sts
R5: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 2, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 3, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 40 sts
R6: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 23 switching to chinchilla on last st, hdc remaining 16 sts, join – 40 sts

Owl’s Ears
With K hook and Go For Faux Bear
Ch 4 leaving long beginning tail for sewing
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, hdc 3 – 3 sts
R2: Ch 1, turn, starting in same, hdc3tog – 1 sts
Finish off and weave in finishing end. Make second ear. Using long beginning tail, sew both ears on head of Owl.
Owl’s Beak
With worsted orange yarn and H hook:
Ch 3
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, hdc 2 – 2 sts
R2: Ch 1, turn, hdc2tog – 1 sts
Do not finish off. Ch 1. Turn piece so working down raw side, work 2 sc down raw edge, 3 sc in closest ch, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch, work 2 sc up raw edge, ch 1, join to first ch 1. Finish off and weave in ends. Using orange yarn, sew scs in beginning chain right below the eyes. Do not sew entire beak. Pinch lower beak to come more to a point and to stick out from head.
Owl’s Wings
With K hook and Go For Faux Bear.
Leaving a long tail for sewing, ch 9
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, hdc across – 8 sts
R2: Ch 1, turn, 2 hdc in same, hdc in next 6, 2 hdc in last st – 10 sts
R3: Ch 1, turn, 2 hdc in same, hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in last st – 12 sts
R4: Ch 1, turn, hdc in same and each st across – 12 sts
R5: Ch 1, turn, starting in same, hdc2tog, hdc in next 8, hdc2tog over next 2 sts – 10 sts
R6: Ch 1, turn, starting in same, hdc2tog, hdc in next 6, hdc2tog over next 2 sts – 8 sts
R7: Ch 1, turn, starting in same, hdc2tog, hdc in next 4, hdc2tog over next 2 sts – 6 sts
R8: Ch 1, turn, starting in same, hdc2tog, hdc in next 2, hdc2tog over next 2 sts – 4 sts

Finish off and weave end that end. Create second wing. Using beginning tail, sew one wing on each side at Round 16 (neck) of Owl.
Scarf
With H hook and Crushed Velvet:
Ch 9
R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each st across – 8 sts
R2-75: Ch 1, turn, hdc in same and each st across – 8 sts
Finish off and weave in ends. Add fringe. Find a tutorial on how to add fringe here.
Wrap scarf around neck of owl.
Nighttime Cap
With H hook and Crushed Velvet:
Magic Circle
R1: Ch 1, 4 hdc in circle, join – 4 sts
R2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same, hdc in remaining st around, join – 5 sts
Repeat Round 2 until total of 20 stitches. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing. Add tassel on end of cap. Stuff with small amount of fiberfill in last few rounds only and sew on Owl’s head between ears.
Crocheted Owl Eyes
With F hook and black worsted yarn:
Magic Circle
R1: Ch 1, 6 hdc in circle, join switching to eye color yarn – 6 sts
R2: Ch 1, starting in same, 2 sc in each st around, join switching to white yarn – 12 sts
R3: Ch 1, hdc in same, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 18 sts
Finish off leaving a long tail of white yarn for sewing. Weave in other ends. Create second eye.
Sew eyes on face of Owl.
