It doesn't matter it they're used for presents, holiday decor, or crafty supplies, this easy crochet basket pattern will have you whipping them up for youself and as gifts!
This Holiday Basket Crochet Pattern is quick to work up, fun to show off, and great to gift to others! Mine is filled with Lion Brand Go For Faux so I can make two more Crispen the Snowman as gifts this coming year.

Christmas Basket Crochet Pattern
Materials:
- Yarn: Lion Brand Hometown USA (3 Skeins Color A or 243 yards of similar yarn, and 1 Skein Color B or 81 yards of similar yard)
- Hook: Furls L 7.00mm Odyssey Crochet Hook *get 15% off using code: crystalized15
- 3 3/8” Pom Pom Maker or create a pom pom using this tutorial
- Stitch Marker
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Measuring Tape
Sizing:
One Size: 10" height, 35" circumference
Gauge:
10 sc, 10 rows = 4”
The Furls L 7.00mm Odyssey Crochet Hook was used to create this pattern. When using this hook, my gauge differed from when using a different L hook. Please always check gauge to ensure the best project!

Magic Circle
R1: Ch 1, 8 hdc in circle, join – 8 sts
R2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, join – 16 sts
R3: Ch 1, hdc in same, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 24 sts
R4: Ch 1, hdc in same and next, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 2, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 32 sts
R5: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 2, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 3, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 40 sts
R6: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 3, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 4, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 48 sts
R7: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 4, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 5, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 56 sts
R8: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 5, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 6, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 64 sts
R9: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 6, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 7, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 72 sts
R10: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 7, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 80 sts
R11: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 8, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 9, 2 hdc in next, repeat * around, join – 88 sts
Do not finish off. Continue to Body of Basket.

Body is worked continuously around. Use stitch marker to mark first or last stitch of each round. Entire Body of Basket is worked in BLO.
R12: Ch 1, sc in each st around – 88 sts
R13-14: Sc in next 40 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc in next 2 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc remaining sts around – 88 sts
R15: Sc in next 40 switching to Color B, sc in next 6 switching to Color A, sc remaining sts around – 88 sts
R16-17: Sc in next 40 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc in next 2 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc remaining sts around – 88 sts
R18: Sc in each st around – 88 sts
R19-20: Sc in next 43 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc in next 2 switching to Color B, sc in next 2 switching to Color A, sc remaining sts around – 88 sts

R30: Sc in next 17, ch 12, skip 12, sc in next 32, ch 12, skip 12, sc remaining sts around – 64 sts
R31: Sc in each st and ch around – 88 sts
R32: Sc in each st around – 88 sts
Slst in next. Finish off and weave in ends.
Sew one pom pom to the right of each H.
To keep the bottom of the basket flat, cut a circular piece of cardboard slightly smaller than the circumference. Place in bottom of basket. To cover cardboard, repeat Base of Basket. Finish off and sew in bottom of basket, covering the cardboard. Doing this may require more yarn.

Color Change Tutorial
Before finishing a stitch prior to a new color, pull through new color on last pull through.
This picture shows completed color change.
Working Over Yarn Around H
First Row: Work over Color A.
Switch to Color A on last pull through.
Switch to Color B on last pull through.
Work over non-working yarn across H.
Second Row: When joining Color B, take yarn from left and loosely cross stitches.
Work over both stretched Color B and non-working yarn.
Even when working Color A, work over both stretched Color B and non-working yarn.
